SHELDON'S A LEVEL RESULTS ARE BEST IN THE WEST
Sheldon's 2011 A level results were once again the best in the South West region, and 24th in the country.  The students average A level point score was 957, the highest ever achieved at Sheldon.  This is equivalent to an average student achievement of about four B grades at A level.  Read more ...
SHELDON ARE SOUTH WEST RUGBY CHAMPIONS
The Sheldon First XV has won the south west final to reach the quarter final stage of the Daily Mail RBS Rugby U18 Vase.  Sheldon defeated Wycliffe College, Gloucestershire with a 12-8 victory at Stroud RFC.  The quarter final will be at home to Ravens Wood School from Kent.  The match will be played on Wednesday 1st February at Chippenham RFC, kick off at 2.00pm.   Read more ...
THE PEEL LECTURES BEGIN 
Sheldon's new lecture series begins on February 1 2012.  The first lecture in in the series is called "Community in the 21st Century: We Honour Those Who Serve".  Canon Thomas Woodhouse will talk about his experience of community action in Royal Wootton Bassett.  The Peel Lectures ...
PAYING FOR SCHOOL TRIPS ONLINE

SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING THURSDAY 12 JANUARY 2012
Sheldon's outstanding sixth form held its annual open evening on Thursday 12 January.  Students currently in Year 11 at Sheldon or at other schools were invited to attend.  Find out more ...
MR MACMAHON IS LEAVING IN THE SUMMER
Sheldon's headteacher, Gerard MacMahon, is leaving Sheldon in July to become headmaster of Al Khor International School in Qatar.  Read more
MR DOUGLAS TO CARRY THE OLYMPIC TORCH
Adam Douglas, Sheldon's head of PE, has been chosen to carry the Olympic torch on July 13 2012, just two weeks before the Games open in London.  The great honour is a reward for the outstanding contribution he has made to sport and PE in Sheldon and the Chippenham community.
SHELDON WAS PARTIALLY OPEN ON WEDNESDAY 30 NOVEMBER
The school was one of only a handful of Wiltshire secondary schools to be open for some years.  Many sixth formers had lessons.  Year 7s and 8s were able to come in if their parents hadn't been able to organise childcare.
APPS TO DIE FOR
The three Chippenham secondary schools are running a joint session for parents on Friday 2 December about how to use the latest apps for iPods and iPhones to support your child's studies.  There will be a particular focus on helping children with special needs.  For more information here's the advert.
OLYMPIC FLAME TO PASS SHELDON
The London 2012 Olymic flame will pass close to Sheldon School on Wednesday 23 May as it travels from Bristol to Chippenham to Calne on day 5 of its 70-day journey around the country. See the route here ...
MATT DAWSON OPENS OUR REFECTORY
Matt Dawson came to Sheldon on Thursday 3rd November to lead the formal opening of our new refectory.  He is first and foremost a rugby player and was part of the England World Cup winning team in 2003, but he has enjoyed even wider fame on the BBC’s Question of Sport, by winning Celebrity Master Chef and by coming runner up in Strictly Come Dancing. Read more ...

EXCELLENT GCSE RESULTS
Sheldon has again achieved excellent GCSE results.  40% of pupils achieved the tough new EBacc standard - more than twice the national and county averages.
RECORD A LEVEL RESULTS
Sheldon's students have achieved record A level results with almost a third of entries achieving A* or A grades.  33 students achieved 3 A grades or better.
ARE YOU BUYING NEW P.E. KIT?
We have switched to purple and gold socks for boys' games and girls' hockey.  Please buy the new socks when you are buying for the first time or when replacing worn out socks.
SHELDON IS ONE OF THE FIRST 100 TEACHING SCHOOLS
Sheldon has become one of the first in the country to be selected for an elite designation.  We are one of only 100 schools in England to be granted teaching school status.
SPORTS DAY RECORDS
2010's sports day saw eight records broken on the track.  In 2011 we have had two field event records: Harry Cook in the Year 7 long jump and Pippa Brown in the Year 8 javelin.
NEW REFECTORY OPENED ON JULY 11 2011
Sheldon's stunning new refectory building opened to pupils on Monday July 11.
BETH AND RHIANNA DESIGN SHELDON'S GORILLA
The winners of Sheldon's design a gorilla competition are Rhianna Holtom and Beth Meehan.  Our gorilla can be viewed in Waterstone’s in Chippenham from 4 July.
SHELDON ATHLETES WIN AREA CHAMPIONSHIP
Sheldon has won the area athletics championships held at Bath University.
RICHARD HAMMOND'S EXPERIMENTS IN THE PLAYGROUND

FIRST AID SUCCESS FOR YEAR 8s
Sheldon's three Year 8 teams have come fifth, second and first in the regional first aid competition in Portsmouth.  Read more ...
SHELDON IS NOW AN ACADEMY
Sheldon School became an academy on April 1 2011. 
OFSTED's INTERIM ASSESSMENT OF SHELDON 
Ofsted has carried out an interim assessment of standards at Sheldon.  They have judged that the school's outstanding performance has been sustained.   
FACEBOOK SAFETY
Sheldon's pupils have been receiving Facebook safety information and tips.  We are also making available information aimed at parents. 
SHELDON IS OVERSUBSCRIBED AGAIN
280 children have been offered places at Sheldon this year.  Sheldon received the most first preferences in Wiltshire, so unfortunately about 50 children for whom Sheldon was first preference have not yet got a place. 
CLEAN SWEEP FOR SHELDON IN ROTARY SPEAKING COMPETITION
The local heats of the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition have been dominated by Sheldon's teams.  Sheldon pupils won the individual prizes in both intermediate and senior levels and our teams took the top two places in each.
