Sheldon was heavily oversubscribed for entry in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2011, all siblings gained places. All children living or going to school in the rural catchment area got places. 90% of children applying from the town catchment area got places, but about 20 were unsuccessful. Out-of-catchment applicants were also unsuccessful.
However, the chances of getting a place have been improving and Chippenham children's likelihood of gaining a place is now very good. Places in 2012 may once again be available to pupils living outside both catchment areas.
Whether Sheldon is just full or very full, parents who put Sheldon as their first choice school do not reduce ther chance of getting their second or third choice school. So if Sheldon is your preferred choice, it is worth making the school your first preference. |
