For the past 18 months, Sheldon has been involved in the Citizenship Manifesto Project run by the Citizenship Foundation in London. The project involves our pupils creating their own Citizenship Manifesto, in which we pledge our commitment to good Citizenship in the form of a statement, and make a number of promises for the future.
The Manifesto will then be made into a brochure, displayed at school, put into planners, and be part of the pack for prospective parents. It is a working document, and will change as the school changes.
Mrs Dobson has been working with a small group of pupils to co-ordinate the project, and we finally have what we hope will be part of the finished product. Community partners have been asked for a pledge of their support of our Citizenship programme, the statement and promises have been through staff and pupil consultation, and we would now like parents to have their say.
The wording for the document is below. If you would like to suggest any changes, or to pledge your support for the initiative, please contact Mrs Dobson at j.dobson@sheldonschool.co.uk
We hope to launch the Manifesto before the summer.
