NEW YEAR'S HONOUR FOR OLD BOY

Former Sheldon School pupil Peter Wanless has been made a Companion of the Order of the Bath, in the Queen's New Year's Honours List. Peter's father, Tom, was a teacher at Sheldon and lives in Chippenham. The family has maintained close contact with the school and Peter was the guest speaker at our annual awards evening in 2003.

Peter Wanless is a senior official at the Department for Education and Skills. He has responsibility for school performance and reform, so he takes a keen interest in Sheldon's continued successes. This award is often viewed as preparation for a knighthood. Everyone at Sheldon is extremely proud of Peter's achievements.
