Our team of tutors, Head of Year and Pupil Support Workers continually check patterns of attendance and it is common practice for a tutor to telephone home if a pupil has been away for three days without any home contact. On rare occasions, a pupil may be put on a 'first day' call in order to ensure good communication between school and home.
There has been greater national scrutiny on attendance in school and the need for students to attend schools regularly. At Sheldon, attendance figures are very good, with the average attendance each year being over 95%. This something we want to maintain, as unsurprisingly there is a direct link between high levels of attendance and the progress made in curriculum areas, culminating in good GCSEs and A levels.
