All students receive 100 minutes per week of PE in KS4. In Year 10 they have directed activities until the end of term 2. They then begin an option programme in which they choose one activity from six choices each module. This continues into Year 11 until the end of the key stage.
Activities include all the previous twelve covered and then a number of new ones such as climbing, kayaking, map and compass, ultimate Frisbee, fitness, extreme golf, volleyball, cycling. They also have the opportunity to gain leadership qualifications.
Students can also opt into examination courses in PE which include GCSE and BTEC qualifications. Results are outstanding in both of these courses and provide a platform for students who are considering taking advanced level PE or considering a career involved in sport, PE or the leisure industry.
