Sheldon is one of the few schools in the country that offers high quality A Level courses in design and technology. Our visit to Paris provides our product design (3D) students with experiences in urban planning at La Defense, our product design (textiles) students with the opportunity to see a fashion show on the Champs-Elysees and enables our food technology students to source ingredients at Rungis market
Many of our brightest students combine DT product design with maths and physics before going to university to study engineering, architecture, product design and the like. Many students have reported back to us that the design and manufacture elements of the DT A level have given them a jump start at university. Other students combine DT with art and business to pursue careers in graphic design.
Many of our most able students combine DT-food technology with science subjects before going to university to study product development or dietary courses, whilst others want to become reputable chefs. Due to popular demand, we now run the Product Design (textiles) course. This has followed a growth in DT-textiles technology at GCSE where results have been outstanding.
