Our Learning Support Faculty provides appropriate support for pupils so that they can be fully included within the school and community and make the most of their potential across a broad and balanced curriculum. We aim for full integration into the school pastoral system and a close co-operation with other faculty teams. Our fantastic team of 38 Teaching Assistants provides support during lessons and assist with assessments and homework by running a ‘homework club' every lunchtime in the learning support area. We also have a qualified Teacher of the Deaf who is responsible for the audio logical provision for Hearing Impaired pupils.
Local Liberal Democrat MP, Duncan Hames, opened our brand new medical and learning support facilities in 2012. The extensive building work resulted in two new learning support classrooms, a new and improved reception area for pupils and visitors, and a much needed medical facility for our full time nurse that provides an office and three treatment rooms.
The learning support rooms have been equipped with the latest technology and also benefit from acoustic treatment, which make them particularly suitable for use by the special needs and hearing impaired children at Sheldon School.
