Mr Gerard MacMahon BSc (Econ)
Gerard MacMahon came to Sheldon School in April 2005. Previously he was deputy headteacher at Balcarras School in Cheltenham.
Mr MacMahon gained a degree in economics at the London School of Economics and completed a postgraduate teaching qualification at London University's Institute of Education.
He began his teaching career at Stokesley School in North Yorkshire before moving on to Corsham School in Wiltshire in 1994. In 1997 he became Balcarras School's first head of sixth form, which opened in 1998. The sixth form became the highest performing in the west country within five years and Mr MacMahon progressed to deputy headteacher.
Born in Dublin, Mr MacMahon is a loyal supporter of Ireland's rugby team; having moved to Bristol as a child he is an even more fervent supporter of Bristol City.
He is married to Stephanie, who is a secondary school headteacher in North Somerset.
