Parent Enrichment Fund

What is the Parent Enrichment Fund?

A happy child is a successful child. Experience shows that children who get involved in extra-curricular activities become some of our best ambassadors and role models for younger children at Sheldon. This cycle creates a fantastic community ethos for your child to be part of as soon as they join us in year 7.

Extra-curricular activities need funding and whilst we do our best, the purse strings do not always allow us to run clubs for everything that our children want to get involved in.

Fundraising takes time, energy and goodwill and rarely raise enough to sustain our extensive package of enrichment. In recognition of this, our fund has been set up as a charity in place of a traditional Parent Teacher Association. It enables parents and friends of the school to a financial contribution in order to enrich your child’s experience.

The Parent Enrichment Fund is extremely popular and cannot always meet the demands of the huge variety of well-established opportunities on offer. Parent contributions make a massive difference to the number of clubs and visits that we can support year on year.

How can I help?

You may make a small monthly contribution or pledge a one-off donation to the school. Under the government Gift Aid Scheme, for every pound that you donate the government will give us 25p.

Each family’s circumstances are different, and the Parent Enrichment Fund welcomes any contributions. Small regular donations can make a huge difference e.g. if every family at Sheldon contributed £2 per month the Parent Enrichment Fund would raise £30,000 each year.

If you would like to donate to the Parent Enrichment Fund, please complete the form in the Related Documents section and send it to the school office.

I’d like to be more involved – what can I do?

Spending priorities are decided by a board of trustees representing parents and governors. We would welcome new trustees to join us and if this interests you please contact Judith Owen via email (jowen@sheldonschool.co.uk). We meet just twice a year for the very enjoyable task of considering the bids made from faculties, year groups, school council clubs, sports teams and individual pupils.
