Over the summer holidays our Facilities Department took advantage of the quiet corridors to make improvements to our school environment. They installed the new parking barrier, gave classrooms a fresh coat of paint, replaced flooring, repaired fencing, removed grafitti from desks, redecorated catering spaces and gave everything a deep clean and fresh polish. This was no easy task, but our facilities team certainly make it look easy!

Our Facilities Department are continuously working to keep the school site to the highest standards. Thanks to their hard work throughout the year, our site is kept safe and comfortable so that students can learn in the best possible school environment.

We also carried out larger scale projects to enhance our school, including installing new Velux windows to the Arts Block, improving natural light for our budding artists! However the biggest change to our school can only be noticed from above--we installed 535 solar panels covering 1026.5 sqm of our roof area. This installation is 54 times larger than a domestic installation and will offset 43 tonnes of carbon each year!

Thanks to the support from the Bath & West Community Energy Partnership and Zero Chippenham we will be part of a community energy model that allows us to generate a community benefit fund that will be available to support local action on tackling fuel poverty and climate change. Additionally, we will save thousands of pounds annually as the solar panels will generate over 25% of our school's energy demand. We will also be able to contribute hundreds of thousands of pounds for the community fund over the 25 year lifespan of the panels.

We are very proud to be able to benefit our community and help the environment for years to come.

Sheldon gave me confidence in my abilities and supported my ambitions. Going to a state school has many benefits over private in terms of real-world experience and being friends with a varied group of students. This has helped me in my life since school.
