A welcome from the Head of Faculty, Mr Rand

The BEC vision: Through a relevant and ambitious curriculum, to deliver a relevant, engaging learning experience across all BEC subjects and so enabling students to develop knowledge, skills and cultural capital which will help them make excellent progress, develop as individuals and prepare them for life beyond Sheldon.

The Business, Economics and Computing faculty was formed in 2003. We deliver computing and digital literacy at Key Stage 3, Business, Creative iMedia and Computing at GCSE, and at A Level, Business, Economics and Computing. Results across all areas are consistently strong and a large number of students are choosing our courses.

I believe that a key role of the faculty is preparing students for life after school, whether that be in work or education. Our courses give valuable real world experience as well as qualifications that will aid progression to higher education.  In all lessons we aim to develop students’ independent learning skills, we want them to be creative thinkers and to develop the autonomy that we know they will need in the world of work.

These faculty pages aim to give you a brief insight into our work, if you would like any further information or to visit us to see what we do then please get in touch.

My favourite subject was maths because of my teacher Mr Davies who I would love to thank personally one day as I used to hate maths. I love making on impact on my students lives and knowing that I can do what Mr Davies did for me. Inspire.
