HRB Footgolf Celebration

16 Jul 26

The students of our Hearing Resource Base (HRB) had a brilliant time at their Summer Social playing footgolf at Monkton Park Golf Course. This was a great way to spend time together and for the students to say goodbye to our Teacher of the Deaf, Mrs Freeman, who is leaving Sheldon School this year. Mrs Freeman has been instrumental in developing our strong provision for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. One of the legacies of her work is creating opportunities for students to socialise with each other through sport, forming bonds and a positive deaf identity. Over the last few years, she has developed a close relationship with the Chippenham Tennis Club, where student receive specialised tennis lessons from Coach Pete Evans.

We'd like to thank the coaches from the Chippenham Tennis Club for joining us for the footgolf event. Thank you also to Wendy from the Tea Rooms at Monkton Park Golf Course for helping organise the event and to all of the teachers and TAs that have given support to our students throughout the year.

I was head girl in 2015 and loved being able to speak to parents about my time at Sheldon when they were considering where their children should go. Because of how it has shaped me as a person I feel I am who I am today because of my time there.
