Following a consultation with parents and learning visits to other secondary schools, we have decided to make Sheldon a phone free school. Beginning in Term 6, we will be introducing Yondr pouches to secure phones, smart watches and earbuds during the day. We believe this will help us to continue supporting our students' mental wellbeing, as well as improving attendance, attainment, behaviour and social engagement with fellow students.

We held a Parent Information Evening earlier in the week to discuss the changes and demonstrate how the pouches work. Thank you to all the parents who attended and to those that responded to our parent survey earlier in the year. Your feedback has been valuable in helping us decide on the best course of action regarding our phone policy. Over the next few weeks, students will learn more about Yondr pouches during tutor time and assemblies. We will begin rolling out the changes at the beginning of Term 6 for Years 7-10.

There will be no changes for current Year 11 students as they will be in exams. Although we would like to remind students that they are not allowed to bring phones, smart watches or headphones in exam venues. There will be no changes for Sheldon Sixth Form students.

Further information about how and when we will begin using Yondr pouches will be shared in the coming weeks. For more information, please view the presentation attached below.

Sheldon gave me confidence in my abilities and supported my ambitions. Going to a state school has many benefits over private in terms of real-world experience and being friends with a varied group of students. This has helped me in my life since school.
