South West Chef of the Year - Wiltshire

17 Jul 26

Several of our Year 10 students recently competed in the Wiltshire leg of the South West Young Chef of the Year 2026 competition. We'd like to say a huge congratulations to Rickesha, who eon the competition with her dish of pan fried scallops with pea and mint puree, Dauphinoise potatoes and a fresh herb aioli. She now move on to the regional finals held in Exeter in October. She will be mentored over the summer by the Head Chef at Lucknam Park so that she can perfect her skills and enhance her dish.

We'd also like to congratulate Faye, Jake, Elliott and Luke for their outstanding efforts during the competition. They all received fantastic feedback from the judges who were impressed by the level of skill on display from students at Sheldon school. We began the selection process for the competition in our Year 10 food classes where students created a menu. We were very pleased that five of our students were selected to participate in event. The continuous success of Sheldon School in the South West Young Chef of the Year competitions highlights the strength of the culinary skills of our teachers and students.

We look forward to seeing what Rickesha cooks up in the regional competition. We're sure it is going to be delicious!

The school reinforced my core values and built friendships that have continued to this day, drama gave me the confidence to begin to stand in front of strangers and speak to groups.
