Varsity Rematch
After the draw last term, we held a rematch of the Sixth Form Varsity to determine the top year group. Our two football teams met again at lunch during an exciting match watched by plenty of spectators from Sixth Form and the lower school. Year 13 scored early and seemed headed to victory, but Year 12 equalised in the last minutes of the match. Both teams decided not to take it to penalties, leaving the Varsity result still undecided.
Elsewhere on the field, the Year 12 Rounders team played our Girls PE Faculty in a lively match made even more interesting by the high winds! Despite the challenging conditions, they looked like they were having a blast. Thank you to our PE staff for playing along with the students and to Mr Lynch for being the football ref once again. As there was no Year 13 Rounders team, Year 12 take the automatic win making them the official winners of the 2026 Sixth Form Varsity!
Will they be able to hold on to the title next year? Our Year 11 students are already hungry for competition and should put up a good fight when they become Year 12! In fact, our Year 10 and Year 11 have been inspired to hold their own version of Varsity with netball and a Mr Wolff v Mr Merriman football showdown. This will be held during lunch in a couple of weeks -- more details to come.
