Service Pupils

At Sheldon School, we are committed to ensuring that every service pupil feels supported, valued and able to thrive both academically and personally.

Approximately 3% of our students come from service families. With strong links to Colerne Barracks, MOD Corsham and MOD Hullavington, as well as military communities further afield, we understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with Armed Forces life. These may include frequent relocations, school transitions, parental deployment and periods of separation.

Our aim is to provide stability, continuity and a strong sense of belonging so that every service pupil feels confident, settled and able to achieve their full potential.

Operation Sheldon Service Family

Supporting Our Service Pupils

At Sheldon School, we are proud to support children from military families and recognise the distinctive experiences that come with service life.

Operation Sheldon Service Family is our dedicated programme designed to ensure that every service pupil feels supported, connected and valued throughout their time with us.

Our approach is informed by the Thriving Lives Toolkit, helping us deliver evidence-based support that meets the needs of service children and young people.

Our Vision

We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where service pupils:

  • Feel a strong sense of belonging and stability.
  • Receive the academic and emotional support they need to succeed.
  • Develop the confidence and resilience to thrive despite the challenges of military life.

By recognising the individual experiences of each child, we ensure that support is personalised and responsive.

Our Commitment

Through Operation Sheldon Service Family, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where service pupils can succeed, feel understood and take pride in their identity as members of the Armed Forces community.

Supporting. Connecting. Belonging.
