Student Climbs Ben Nevis

We'd like to extend a huge congratulations to Parker in Year 9 who recently climbed Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain! Parker completed the hike with his mum and Mountain Rescue team members to raise awareness of what Mountain Rescue does year round, in all conditions. Parker made it to the summit within four hours of challenging wintry conditions and had a smile on his face the whole time...until the less enjoyable descent.

He also had a tour of two Mountain Rescue centres before meeting up the next day with Brightest Star, a child bereavement charity, at the Scottish ambulance base at Glasgow airport where critically ill children are transported all over the UK.

Parker's mum runs an annual charity Christmas prize draw fundraiser that takes place this weekend. The prize draw supports Mountain Rescue and Brightest Star, along with Brain Tumour Research and Eilidh's Trust and has already raised over £72,000! I was head girl in 2015 and loved being able to speak to parents about my time at Sheldon when they were considering where their children should go. Because of how it has shaped me as a person I feel I am who I am today because of my time there.
