Prefects

Sheldon Prefects are a group of specially selected Year 11 students who contribute to the community and wellbeing of the school. There are around 60 Prefects, who can be identified by their navy ties striped with purple and gold. Sheldon Prefects support the school community by organising events, running clubs and supporting younger students. They can be found on the Year 7 playground and A9 (the dedicated indoor Year 7 lunchtime space) on duty and engaging with Year 7s.

Prefects also organised a number of committees that benefit Sheldon including the Environmental Committee; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee; Mental Health Committee and Marketing Committee. These committees play a number of roles from hosting the Inclusivity Group to helping plan the yearbook. Prefects also represent the school during Open Evenings and help support the smooth running of other school functions.

The most significant role of a Prefect is to help with the Year 7 transition to secondary school. Prefects join new Year 7s on their Transition Day and are on hand to support them. They help new students find their way around the school and talk through things that younger students are worried about. Prefects also go to Year 7 Camp at the beginning of the school year and help Year 7 tutor groups with activities.

Senior Prefects

There are 10 Senior Prefects selected each year by the Year 11 Leadership Team after an interview process. Senior Prefects oversee the prefect committees by organising meetings and activities for committee members.

Head Students

Each year, the Year 11 Leadership Team select two Head Students and two Deputy Head Students following an interview process in which applicants must give a presentation to the Year 11 Leadership Team about what aspects they would like to work on if appointed to the role. Head Students are responsible for setting the timetables for the Year 7 playground duty and meet regularly with the Year 11 Leadership Team to find out where Prefects help is needed.

As Head Students we are chosen to lead and support the Prefects.

Elod, Head Boy

My name is Elod and I am one of the head students. I hope to embrace our new school values by making our Prefect team a core part of our school community and to make our new Year 7s comfortable as they take this new step in their education.

Eve, Head Girl

Hi! I’m Eve and I’m one of the Head Prefects. I am committed to encouraging every student to step outside their comfort zones and find their self-belief. From my own experience in many clubs such as sport, debate and law, my confidence has grown massively since the start of year 7 due to putting in effort to find courage as well as the helping hand from friends, family, and teachers around me. I want to inspire and support young students to take similar leaps during their time at Sheldon, whether participating in clubs, sports, or taking on extra roles to ensure everyone fulfils the opportunities given here at Sheldon. I am here to help give that friendly nudge and encouraging smile!

As Deputy Head Students we are chosen to help the Head Students lead and support the Prefects.

Ross, Deputy Head Boy

My name is Ross and I am a Deputy Head Student. I have an aspiration to make the Sheldon even more of a friendly and welcoming place. I can achieve this through being a 2-time award winner at Sheldon and I have also played in the school rugby team which enables me to communicate fantastically with a great team of Sheldon Prefects!

Anneka, Deputy Head Girl

My name is Anneka and I am a Deputy Head Student. Throughout my role as Deputy Head Student, I hope to help improve the school by continuing to build our school community, supporting younger students and creating a sustainable school environment. Having engrossed myself into many school activities and opportunities, I hope that as a Deputy Head Student, I can inspire younger students to do the same. Overall I want to make sure every pupil feels safe and happy at school and makes the most of their school experience and I hope to support them in any way I can whilst following the schools core values of be kind, be brave and be the best you.

Throughout the year the Sheldon Prefects help with charity events, open evenings and even have social events as a group.
