Earlier this week, Dr Jessica Hilton visited Sheldon Sixth Form to deliver an assembly about managing and understanding emotions to all Year 12 students. She also worked with our Psychology students in a special workshop explaining a variety of mental health conditions and treatment options.

Dr Hilton is keen on helping young people understand that this can a challenging time of life and it is normal to feel anxiety. "Be kind to yourself," she encouraged students. "You are allowed to find things hard. Remember to speak kindly to yourself. Ask yourself what advice you would give to a friend who is experiencing the same feelings you have. It can be hard to be human sometimes, but it always gets better."

Dr Hilton attended Sheldon School and Sixth Form from 2005-2012, where she excelled in her studies and participated in a number of school activities including Peer Mentoring, hockey and netball. She studied A Level Psychology, French and Geography before getting her BSc in Psychology from the University of Southampton. She then went on to get her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oxford. She is now a practicing Clinical Psychologist and is has returned to Chippenham to raise her family.

We were delighted to welcome her back to Sheldon and would like to thank her for taking the time to support our Sixth Form students who hope to one day follow in her footsteps. If you are one of or alumni and would like to speak with students about your career and educational journey after leaving school, please get in touch by emailing alumni@sheldonschool.co.uk

I was head girl in 2015 and loved being able to speak to parents about my time at Sheldon when they were considering where their children should go. Because of how it has shaped me as a person I feel I am who I am today because of my time there.
