Our Hearing Resource Base recently celebrated the end of another great year of tennis lessons at the Chippenham Tennis Club Head Coach, Peter Evans and his wonderful team of volunteers. We presented them with a card from the students and a fantastic tennis themed cake courtesy of 10th Hole Tea Room, Monkton Park.

On their last coaching session, the group was also joined by Catherine Fletcher, Lawn Tennis Association National Deaf Tennis Coach and former Deaflympics champion. Catherine held a special coaching session for many of our students last year and returned again to see to them play. She was very impressed by their continued improvement on the court!

This is the second year that our students have received specialised deaf tennis training through an initiative that not only improves their confidence on the court, but also helps foster a positive deaf identity. Thank you to everyone for their dedication to deliver tennis lessons to our deaf and hard of hearing students. Deaf tennis has been one of the most popular enrichment opportunities for our students and we are so pleased to see their enthusiasm for the sport!

Childhood shapes who you become (as we say at the NSPCC) and Sheldon was a big part of that.
