Students at Sheldon School are celebrating another fantastic set of GCSE results, with overall attainment rising again this year. An impressive 74% of students achieved grades 9–4, while 56% secured grades 9–5, both improvements on last year’s outcomes. Although no national progress scores are being published this year, Sheldon’s Attainment 8 score has increased when compared with last year. As always, the school celebrates not only the headline figures but also the effort, resilience, and commitment shown by every student in reaching their goals.

Headteacher Peter Lynch said:

We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and the immense hard work they have shown to secure these results. There are so many individual success stories, and we are delighted to be welcoming back a significant number of students into our Sixth Form.

This year group missed the end of their primary education due to the pandemic, making these their first external exams – a challenge they have risen to with determination. We are very proud of what they have achieved.

A particular highlight is the performance of Pupil Premium (PP)students, where the school has successfully closed the attainment gap with non-PP students. This achievement reflects Sheldon’s inclusive ethos and the dedication of staff to ensuring that every student fulfils their potential.

There were also some exceptional subject results at grades 9–4, including:

  • Film Studies – 100%
  • Media – 95%
  • Photography – 93%
  • Art – 91%
  • Food – 88%
  • French – 82%
Sheldon gave me confidence in my abilities and supported my ambitions. Going to a state school has many benefits over private in terms of real-world experience and being friends with a varied group of students. This has helped me in my life since school.
