National Careers Week (2-7 March 20206) is a celebration all about your future — your goals, your interests, and the amazing opportunities waiting for you. It’s a chance to explore different jobs, discover new pathways, and start thinking about what inspires you.

It’s a whole week dedicated to helping students learn about careers, skills, and the world of work. Schools across the country take part, making it a national event focused on your future.

If students would like a careers appointment to chat about future ideas, explore different job options or find out the pathways to get there, please contact Miss Witchell or stop by the Careers Hub.

Why It’s Important

  • It helps you understand the huge range of careers out there.
  • It gives you ideas for what you might want to do after school.
  • It helps you make informed choices about subjects, courses, and pathways.
  • It encourages you to think about your strengths and what you enjoy.

How We’re Celebrating This Week

  • Sharing career information and resources
  • Highlighting different job sectors
  • Offering guidance and support
  • Encouraging you to explore your interests and ask questions
  • It’s a great chance to get inspired and start imagining the future you want.

Lunchtime Pop-Up

Stop by the Lunchtime Pop-Up outside the refectory on Thursday 5 March to learn more about the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is the organisation in England and Wales that decides whether someone who has been accused of a crime should go to court. They work closely with the police, but they are separate — the police investigate crimes, and the CPS decides what happens next.

The CPS has a few important jobs, including:

  • Looking at evidence collected by the police and deciding if there is enough to take a case to court.
  • Making sure decisions are fair, based on facts and the law.
  • Presenting cases in court, using lawyers called prosecutors.
  • Supporting victims and witnesses, helping them understand what will happen in court.
  • Working to keep the public safe by making sure the right people are brought to justice.

Understanding the CPS helps you see how the justice system works and how laws are applied in real life. It’s also useful if you’re interested in careers like:

  • Law
  • Policing
  • Criminology
  • Public service
  • Government and justice roles

It shows how different parts of the justice system work together to keep society safe and fair. Please stop by and say hello and support our visitors who have given up their time to be here in school!
