PE Highlights from Term 1

23 Oct 25

We had a strong start to the year with some fantastic results from our sports teams. Here are the PE highlights from Term 1:

  • Year 7s made a fantastic start to extracurricular sport at Sheldon! We had over 110 Year 7s regularly taking part in extracurricular sport and our rugby and netball teams made an impressive start to fixtures with some great wins against local schools. We've been impressed with the high levels of effort, enthusiasm and determination and are looking forward to the rest of the season!
  • Really strong wins by all Y8 netball teams over the last couple of weeks. Not game lost so far!
  • U13 girls footballers played incredibly well at the U13 county utility cup. What a start to the season.
  • Y9 football: 7-0 win in the first round of the County Cup!
  • Chippenham rugby varsity: Y7 As and Bs won, Y8As lost and Bs won, Y9s Won.
  • Our PE accolade of the most improved squad of the term goes to our Y9 netballers.
  • Y10 rugby team had a phenomenal tournament winning all games up to the final, and then only losing narrowly in an incredibly closely contested final.
  • U16 netball team had a stormer at their area tournament. Strong skill level and teamwork saw us win the majority of games comfortably, only losing out to a strong independent school.
  • U16 hockey: Two games against St Mary's Home and Away fixture. It was impressive to see us holding our own against a prestigious independent hockey school. Player of the match Poppy B and a massive well done to Flo and Kiera for stepping up and playing in goal!
  • Sports Ambassador news: A huge thank you to all of our young leaders who have supported Sheldon running primary events, our young hockey leaders were a credit to the school.
Our clubs remain the same after half term and we welcome any new members. Just turn up after school and we'll get you involved!
Childhood shapes who you become (as we say at the NSPCC) and Sheldon was a big part of that.
