Post-16 Results 2025
The progress made by this cohort is the strongest in Sheldon’s history, with a record-breaking Value-Added score of +0.58. This means that, on average, each student achieved more than half a grade higher than expected based on their prior attainment.
Almost all students secured the grades required for their first-choice university or apprenticeship places, and we look forward to following their exciting futures.
There were some truly outstanding outcomes this year, with the percentage of A* grades (12%) more than doubling compared with last year, and 99% of all entries awarded grades A*–E. These achievements reflect the determination, talent and commitment of both students and staff.
Headteacher, Pete Lynch, commented on the outstanding results this year:
Our students have shown remarkable dedication, resilience, and ambition, truly living out our school value of being the best you. I am thrilled to announce that our value-added score of 0.58 – the highest in Sheldon’s history – demonstrates that every student, whatever their ability, achieved beyond national expectations. This is a testament to their determination and the unwavering commitment of our exceptional Sixth Form tutor team and teachers, who have guided each student towards securing their chosen next step, whether that be university, an apprenticeship, or employment.
Today is a celebration of their hard work and achievements, and I wish them every success as they step into the next chapter of their lives. Wherever their journey takes them, they will always be cherished members of the Sheldon family.
Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, Eugene Spiers was delighted with these results and expressed his pride in the students’ achievement:
Our students worked incredibly hard and showed real resilience and commitment to achieve these results. A sizable group of these students were in the Study Room every day after school and many of them came in during the May half term to revise for their exams. This is the sort of dedication that leads to excellent progress and outcomes that most students were happy with.
I would also like to extend my thanks to our hardworking staff and to all the parents and carers for their support. We hope that all the students keep in touch and let us know how they get on in the future.
