Remembrance Day and Poppy Appeal

5 Nov 26

Sheldon School will be marking Remembrance Day on Wednesday 11 November with our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. This event includes readings by our Head Students and Sixth Form Presidents and performance of the Last Post by our Sheldon Musicians. A moment of silence will be observed throughout the school at 11:11am.

On Remembrance Day, students involved in Cadets, Scouts or Guides are allowed to wear their group uniforms rather than the Sheldon uniform. They are also allowed to attend the ceremony after registering with their Lesson 3 class.

Over the next week, students will learn more about Remembrance Day through tutor work and assemblies. Year 7 students will also be making poppies for our display in the Quad. Prefects and Sixth Formers have begun visiting tutor groups to sell poppies and other merchandise to raise money for the Royal British Legion. These can also be purchased at Reception before or after school.

Please note: we can only accept cash donations for the Poppy Appeal and all donations will go directly to the Royal British Legion. Please see the attached PDF for more information about the items available and the suggested minimum donations.
Sheldon really was a key influence on how I drove my career forward. Yes, there are ups & downs through school life but keeping focussed is the main thing and if you really want to make it happen - you can. I am proof!
