Y12 Visits Parliament

11 Dec 25

The Sheldon Sixth Form Year 12 politics class recently travelled to London for a day of exploring the heart of British government. Their day began with a full tour of the House of Commons and House of Lords, before the Commons had to be swept for security ahead of an important parliamentary session. The students visited the Supreme Court, where they were able to sit in on a case. Their tour also allowed them to visit an empty courtroom and sit in the chairs that they may one day occupy if they decide to follow a political or judicial career! In the afternoon they toured Whitehall to gain a better understanding of where important decisions are made and did a bit of politician spotting outside Downing Street!

Thank you to Mrs Tillotson for organising this trip and to our students for being enthusiastic and curious about the British political system.

I was head girl in 2015 and loved being able to speak to parents about my time at Sheldon when they were considering where their children should go. Because of how it has shaped me as a person I feel I am who I am today because of my time there.
