At Sheldon Sixth Form, we help students who are interested in pursuing competitive courses at prestigious universities in the UK and globally by offering mentoring and support through our Sheldon Scholars programme.

Beginning in the middle of Year 11 and continuing through their time in Sheldon Sixth Form, students have the opportunity to work with our Sheldon Scholars mentors on a regular basis to insure that they are prepared for interviews, entrance exams and have a strong UCAS application. This is particularly important for students who are interested in applying to Oxford or Cambridge, as well as other highly competitive courses like medicine, science and dentistry that require early application.

Our Sheldon Scholars mentors have years of experience in advising successful applicants, as well as personal experience of going through the application and interview process. We want to prepare all of our students as early as possible, so that they are confident in their choices for further education.

Topics covered in our fortnightly Sheldon Scholars programme include:

  • Preparing for interviews
  • What to expect in admissions tests
  • Creating a strong UCAS application
  • Demonstrating deeper understanding and interest in their field of study
  • Importance of super-curricular activities

We also run a Mini Book Club where students are encouraged to read books related to their subject areas and share their opinions with the rest of the Sheldon Scholars group. This is an excellent way to prepare students for speaking confidently about what they have learned in entrance interviews.

All students will have an opportunity to join Sheldon Scholars if they would like to receive specialised mentoring and support to achieve their higher education goals.
